How To Relieve Keto Flu Symptoms: Digestion Problems

Question: I am having digestive problems (too many bathroom trips) after starting the ketogenic diet, what can I do to prevent this?

Answer: Unfortunately when going on a ketogenic diet for the first time, your body will experience some digestion problems until it adjusts. This is know as the “keto flu”.

This usually only lasts two or three days.

One thing I do to reduce symptoms and help prevent frequent bathroom trips is to make sure I ingest more soluble fiber. You can find high fiber counts in the following ketogenic foods:

  • Avocado
  • Coconut
  • Artichokes
  • Brussels Sprout
  • Turnips

I also take fiber supplements. Any fiber supplements with high soluble fiber content should do.

Personally, I take one serving of Barn Dad Nutrition FiberDX each day. I mix it with Almond + Coconut Milk and drink it prior to lunch every day. I find it helps me to eat less for lunch as well as keeps my digestive track healthy and regular.
